Stem Cell Awareness Week. November 20-24, 2017.
(1) We organize seminars every Wednesday at 16:00 – 18:00 in the Seminar Room of the Public Cord Blood Bank at 9Β-01 Wing of the Medical School of the University of Crete entitled “Umbilical cord blood stem cells and their use in transplantation for haematologic disorders”. No appointment is needed.
(2) The Medical Association of Heraklion organizes a course to the medical community and the lay public entitled "Stem cells: myths and reality". June 25, 2016, 6.00 pm, @ Androgeo Hall, Municipality of Heraklion. The aim of the Course is to give solid information about the stem cell biology and sources, to highlight the fact that stem cell use in regenerative medicine is an investigational procedure in the setting of clinical trials and to underline the importance of donation of cord blood for allogeneic transplantation. Main speakers: Prof. Helen Papadaki, Dr Dimitrios Xydakis, Ass. Prof. Charalampos Pontikoglou.
(3) Open day for “Blood, bone marrow and umbilical cord donation”. Under the auspices of the Haematology Department of the University Hospital of Heraklion, The Hellenic Haematology Association, The Association of friends of the Haematology Department of the University Hospital of Heraklion “Anagennisi”, the Blood Donor Student Group of the University of Crete and the Municipality of Heraklion.
