A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, by the University of Crete and the Heraklion Chamber of Commerce. The Memorandum was signed by the Rector of the University of Crete, Professor Georgios M. Kontakis, and the President of the Board of Directors of the Heraklion Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Manolis Alifierakis, in the presence of the Vice Rector for Research and Development, Professor Michael Pavlidis, the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Lifelong Learning, International Relations and Extroversion, Professor Georgios Kosioris, the Head of the General Directorate of Administrative & Financial Services of the University of Crete, Ms. Eudoxia Kapsalaki, and Member of the Board of Directors of the Heraklion Chamber of Commerce and H2B HUB, Mr. Georgios Karouzakis.
The Memorandum of Cooperation between the University of Crete and the Heraklion Chamber of Commerce seals the already long-standing and multi-level cooperation between the two bodies, with the ultimate goal of strengthening and developing start-up entrepreneurship, innovation, and training and exchange of experiences in technology transfer.
The purpose of this Memorandum of Cooperation is:
To utilize the knowledge of the research community of the University of Crete and the business world to produce competitive products with high added value.
To cultivate and promote technology transfer, innovation, and start-up entrepreneurship.
To implement national and international research/development projects and programs of common interest for the development of innovative products and services.
Business training and education for young people.
More direct links between students and businesses for practical training.
The implementation of educational and training programs for businesses for their continuous improvement.
Strengthening the extroversion and dissemination of scientific knowledge, know-how, technology, innovation, and the results produced within the University of Crete for the benefit of the economy and society.
