Description: Erasmus days 2023 highlight the importance of Europe’s cultural diversity, focusing on the promotion of new skills. In this spirit, we invite Erasmus students to discover Heraklion through a city tour that will take them through the 5+1 civilizations of Crete (can you name them???) hidden in the modern city. The tour includes a short visit to the Municipal Library (30min), which hosts 250,000 books, 300,000 newspaper, about 1.650 hours of audiovisual material and seven centuries of archives left by the occupiers of Crete! The event concludes with a brunch in the Municipal Cafe (Polikentro) where representatives of the Municipality & the Region of Crete will show us how “old” traditional skills can be revived to something new and innovative! Learn how research, education and innovation can be combined with traditional practices and find out about the special products, arts & crafts of Crete, as well as about "new-old skills" you could learn while you are here!
